The Democratic Attorneys General Association Statement on New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Resignation Announcement
Washington, D.C.— In response to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s announcement to resign after allegations of abusive behavior towards four women were reported, the Democratic Attorneys General Association released the statement below from Executive Director Sean Rankin.
STATEMENT FROM SEAN RANKIN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE DEMOCRATIC ATTORNEYS GENERAL ASSOCIATION:
“The Democratic Attorneys General Association opposes any and all forms of domestic and sexual violence, period. It falls on all of us, regardless of party or position, to create a society that trusts and respects women. Our state attorneys general have a special and powerful responsibility in creating that culture—we must hold them to the highest standards of accountability. We will continue to support our Democratic Attorneys General in their commitment to stand with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, in addition to their ongoing work in protecting civil rights, keeping our communities and families safe, and serving as the People’s Lawyers.”
