Washington, D.C.— Following the Democratic primary on Tuesday, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (@DemocraticAGs) endorsed Kathy Jennings for Attorney General.  As Delaware’s State Prosecutor, Chief Deputy Attorney General, and most recently Chief Administrative officer of New Castle County, Jennings has a proven track-record of fighting for progress and reform of Delaware’s criminal justice system.

“Kathy Jennings has the dedication, experience, and drive to serve the people of Delaware as Attorney General—and we trust she will continue the strong work of Attorney General Denn,” said Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association. “Her career is built on protecting the most vulnerable, fighting crime, and combatting corruption. There is no doubt she will bring those skills into the office of Attorney General.”

Over her career, Kathy championed reforms in Delaware’s justice system and prosecuted hundreds of domestic violence, sexual assaults, and homicide cases. As Chief Deputy Attorney General, the #2 official in the entire Delaware Department of Justice, Jennings developed and implemented the Consumer Fraud Division, after successfully fighting for legislation to protect consumers. As state prosecutor, in 2013, Kathy Jennings helped then-Attorney General Beau Biden craft the first draft of a piece of gun legislation that limits access to firearms for those who present a danger to themselves or others.

In November, Jennings will face Bernard Pepukayi, who recently switched his party affiliation and filed to run for Delaware Attorney General as a Republican after Republican AG candidate Peggy Marshall Thomas dropped out on Aug. 13 after only five weeks in the race.

“Like most Delawareans, Jennings is ready to fight back against some of the rollbacks and violations of democratic values we see happening in all levels of government including from the Trump Administration,” added Rankin. “We look forward to welcoming Kathy Jennings into our room of Democratic Attorneys General in November.”
