The Democratic Attorneys General Association Supports Sean Shaw for Florida Attorney General

Shaw is First African American Democratic Attorney General Nominee in Florida

Washington, D.C.— Following the Democratic primary on Tuesday, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (@DemocraticAGs) endorsed Sean Shaw for Florida Attorney General. Shaw is the first African American Democratic Attorney General nominee in Florida and when he wins in November, he will be the first African American Attorney General in the state’s history.

“Florida voters are ready for a change. The victories for Sean Shaw and the Democratic ticket yesterday in Florida are evidence of that enthusiasm,” said Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association. “Sean Shaw is a tireless fighter for the middle class—he fought for more public school funding, expanding access to affordable healthcare, and he took on big insurance companies when they ripped off homeowners.”

In November, Shaw will face Republican nominee Ashely Moody. Recent polling shows Shaw leading Moody by five-points. As the Insurance Consumer Advocate, Shaw worked to protect consumers from price gouging and insurance fraud. As an attorney in private practice, Shaw fought for victims of the BP Oil Spill and as a leader in the state legislature, Shaw continues to fight for consumers and champion equal rights and equal opportunity for all.

“For too long, the people of Florida have lacked the support of an Attorney General that puts them first—and that all changes this November,” added Rankin. “We know that Sean Shaw is the person voters can trust to fight corporate criminals, scammers, and sexual predators who prey on Florida’s most vulnerable.”
