SPOTTED: GOP Confusion on How to Play in Primaries in Kentucky

May 9, 2019

If you’re gonna play in primaries, you gotta have one candidate for the band. Unfortunately, it looks like the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) missed that lesson.

This week, the Judicial Crisis Network launched a $350,000 ad buy in support of Mitch McConnell’s protégé, Daniel Cameron.

Not only is the Judicial Crisis Network one of the most extreme right-wing organizations in the country and a piggy bank for special interests like the Koch Brothers, but they are also one of RAGA’s top donors. They dropped $3 million into RAGA in 2018.

Why then was RAGA chair and indicted Texas AG Ken Paxton, along with Vice President Mike Pence, cheesing it up with Cameron’s opponent Wil Schroder on the eve of the Kentucky Derby?

The Republican Party seems to be in disarray about these disastrous candidates. Should they choose Daniel Cameron, the Mitch McConnell groomed-lawyer who arguably doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to be AG, or go with Wil Schroder, Paxton’s party pal?

Guess we will find out on May 21!
